The following is a brief history of our company & Everett Boldt, the man who founded it.
Everett moved to Baldwin, WI with his family in 1936 at the age of 14 and helped run the family's dairy farm on Pine Lake. After high school, he married Eleanor and soon after, he signed up with the United States Army to serve his country in Europe during World War II. Everett returned in 1945, and began his work as a plumber and sheet metal / heating installer & serviceman, learning his trade on his own, while he worked for Stronke's Hardware, in the very same building Boldt's is located today. Everett's starting wage was $18 per week. In 1957, Everett borrowed $2000, bought a used truck and some used sheet metal equipment and set up his shop in the building now occupied by 'The Gallery' on 680 Main Street. In 1960 he bought out his former employer, Stronke's Hardware, and along with business partner, Perk Gregerson, opened the business known as Boldt & Gregerson Hardware. In 1977, the partnership split and the company name was changed to Boldt's Plumbing & Heating. During his lifetime, Everett was blessed with four children; daughters Barb, Jule and Sandy, and son, Steven. He built his first and only home in 1948, where he still resides today.
In 1973, daughter Jule offered to help her father with his book work, resulting in a lifelong commitment to the business. Jule continued to work after her marriage to Dale Hudson, and through four years of college and the raising of three daughters. Everett approached Jule's husband, Dale Hudson, in 1976, asking him to join the company as his apprentice plumber. After securing his Journeyman Plumber's title, Dale went on to receive his Master Plumber's Certification in 1985, and Certified Soil Tester License in 1987. Today, Jule still takes care of much of the book work for the business, along with general management and human resources, and also helping out with the bidding. Dale manages the plumbing and sanitary portion of the business, and carries the license for Boldt's.
Steven Boldt joined the company in 1977 to assist Everett as store & service manager. After Everett's retiredment, Steven became the chief estimator for the company and also head of the HVAC portion of the business. After 23 years at Boldt's, Steven is now enjoying a semi-retired statis and still lives in Baldwin with his wife, Joan.
